I recently spent 7 days exploring the Amalfi Coast of Italy, making stops in the towns of Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, Naples, Pompeii and Capri. Throughout the trip I tried my best to take as many photos as I could, and I wanted to share some of my favorites here. I brought with me my Canon G7x Mark II due to its size and its reliability. Some pictures turned out better than others due to the crazy Italian heat messing with the lens, as well as the infamous summertime Amalfi Coast crowds. I also took a lot on my iPhone.
Sorrento
Sorrento was my home base, and it was super charming. I loved the feel of the town as well as the Bay of Naples views.

Positano
Perhaps the most famous Amalfi coast town, and the one I was most excited to see. I only briefly got to explore and most of my time was spent near the water instead of the town, which sucks because it is gorgeous and so photogenic. I definitely want to come back and spend more/most of my time in Positano!

Amalfi
After visiting Positano I spent a similar amount of time in Amalfi, and it is another town I am eager to return to and explore more of. Despite the limited time I had I did purchase some of my favorite souvenirs here! There’s so many cute shops

Naples
I traveled by train from Sorrento (a torturously hot ride) and arrived in Naples. I only spent time in one neighborhood, but got to shop and learn a bit of the history of the city through doing a tour of the cities underground tunnels.

Pompeii
I was so pleasantly surprised by Pompeii. I knew I would like it, as it’s so historical, but didn’t expect to as much as I did. I did a tour, which was great but time constricted, so because of that I could easily go back and spend a day exploring more of the site by just wandering. It is so much bigger and more sprawling than I thought. Pictures here are hard to take due to crowds and really don’t do it much justice. It is such a beautiful place, with 360 volcano and mountain views. I wanted to share the ones I did take, though.

Isle of Capri
Capri was so beautiful. I would love to spend multiple days in Capri alone. I was only there for a day and spent mostly all my time in the town of Anacapri, but passed through the town of Capri on the way to Anacapri and 100% want to see more of it. The two main towns definitely have different feels, Anacapri being small and quaint and Capri glitzy and happening. I went to Anacapri via bus from Capri because it was near the Monte Solaro chair lift which brings you to the highest point on the island. I would so recommend doing this, I loved the ride up, you get to ride over villages and homes throughout the island that you wouldn’t see from ground level, and I was blown away upon reaching the top because of the panoramic beauty. It definitely feels otherworldly and like you are in a dream. This is a classic case of pictures not doing it justice!

Stories
Before wrapping up, I wanted to share a story that I also have a picture of. Walking home on my last night in Sorrento, random fireworks started over the town and went on to become a full show for around 10 minutes. It was so random that it felt symbolic as a wrap up for my first Italy experience. It’s a blurry photo but I figured I’d share anyways. 🙂

I hope these pictures were enjoyable and a peek into a few parts of the Amalfi Coast. I can not wait to go back to Italy and see more of the area, I feel like there are endless places to explore and things to do and I definitely didn’t scratch the surface. There are things I would do differently coming back such as bringing better/more cameras, having more time to explore thoroughly, and creating more free time to account for spontaneous ideas.
See you next time!
